Security in a wide area network

  • use passwords
  • do not click on links in messages from unknown recipients, 
  • do not download "suspicious" attachments

Bitmap and vector graphics

A bitmap image: 

- consists of pixels (single point in a graphic image)

- each pixel can have a different color and intensity

- has a fixed size

- If zoom is close enough, the pixels are visible (pixelation)


A vector-based image

- composed of points and Bezier curves 

- no fixed size or resolution -> picture can be enlarged without loss of quality 

- after size changes the location of points and curves are recalculated  the vector images are finally translated and displayed in pixels
